Grant couldn't be at our meeting so the meeting went to him......

The second well deserved recipient of the 2019 Society Service awards was Mr Grant Ruffell and as he couldn’t make our meeting that night his award was presented to him the following day at Placemakers Alexandra where he works. Receiving his award for “Services in Set Building, Back Stage and Bar Management”.

Grant must have been surprised when Society Patron Mr Russell Fawcett and Immediate Past President Mr Trevor Goudie arrived at his work place. Grant is seldom without something to say but just for a moment I hear that he was speechless!

Russell made the presentation whilst Trevor read the following citation

“Grant has worked away in the background for many years, and has been involved inevery show since Annie. With his team he has built the sets for most, if not all of the shows since then, together with staging for Stars in Their Eyes across the same time period.

Grant has been the face behind the bar for many shows, and on those occasions when he could not be seen there, would have been back stage as stage crew and on one occasion, stage manager.

He has also managed to get into the cast under the floodlights. Grant is one of those people who just get things done, without fuss and his contribution fully justifies this award.”

You Rock Grant, Congratulations from us all!
